Who I am

Back in the late 1980s, The National Endowment for the Arts had to make critical decisions about which really controversial and frontier-moving works of art to support.  Included among the works were Andres Serrano’s Piss Christ, and my own quasi-DIY book (proposal) Gardening for Total Assholes. Unfortunately (for me), Gardening for Total Assholes didn’t get funded.  This was particularly unfortunate because I saw GFTA as just the first in a series of how-to books for total assholes, which I continue to believe is a rich, untapped market. Let's face it, the world is filled with assholes, and even they need to learn some basic gardening techniques, not to mention plumbing, cake decorating, tax preparation, etc.

Undaunted, I moved on from writing books for total assholes to producing a couple of plays in the early 1990s, including The Scream and The Great College Radio Hoax, the latter of which was funded by a generous grant from the NEA. I am certain you have seen neither of these works performed.  Of course, that's because they are radio plays.

More recently, I have been an irregular contributor to the Boston Globe Magazine with short pieces that test the patience of my family. I thought it was time to test the patience of other people by writing more and launching a website dedicated specifically to me.

Clicking on the RSS feed icon (that orange thing with the white dot and two white arcs in it) on my home page enables you to have my blog conveniently delivered to your computer, and of course feel free to send me a message by using the form below.

Thanks for visiting!  Cheers!
